Jeremiah 29:11
"For I know the plans I have for you, declares the LORD, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."
This isn't generic "thoughts and prayers" stuff. God has specific plans for your life. Not vague intentions. Actual, detailed plans that only YOU can fulfill.
❌ Your Achievements
Grades, trophies, awards - those are nice, but they're not WHO you are. They're what you've DONE. If you lose them tomorrow, you're still fully valuable.
❌ Your Failures
That test you bombed, that team you didn't make, that college that rejected you - those don't define you either. Romans 8:1 says there's NO condemnation for those in Christ.
❌ Your Appearance
1 Samuel 16:7 - "The LORD looks at the heart." Your worth isn't measured in likes, followers, or how you look in photos. God made you exactly as you are, and He doesn't make mistakes.
❌ What Others Think of You
Proverbs 29:25 - "Fear of man is a snare." If your identity is based on what people think, you'll change yourself 100 times trying to please everyone. Spoiler: you can't.
❌ Your Mistakes or Past
2 Corinthians 5:17 - "If anyone is in Christ, they are a NEW creation. The old has gone, the new has come!" Your past doesn't get the last word.
You want God to send you a text message with your life plan, right? Here's the thing: God reveals purpose progressively, not all at once.
God's general will for EVERYONE includes:
If you're not doing these basics, don't stress about the specifics yet.
What are you naturally good at? What breaks your heart? What problems do you notice that others miss?
Psalm 139:13-14 - God "knit you together" with specific talents, passions, and personality for a reason. Your design is a clue to your destiny.
Proverbs 3:5-6 - "Trust in the LORD... and He will make your paths straight." You don't need to see the whole staircase. Just take the next step. Apply to that school. Have that conversation. Serve in that ministry. God will open or close doors.
James 1:5 - "If any of you lacks wisdom, ask God, who gives generously to all."
But here's the key: after you pray, STOP TALKING. Give God space to answer through His Word, through wise counsel, through circumstances, through that quiet conviction in your spirit.
Proverbs 15:22 - "Plans fail for lack of counsel, but with many advisers they succeed." Talk to people who know you well AND know God well. They can see gifts in you that you might miss.
LIE: "I need to have it all figured out by 18"
TRUTH: Most adults still don't have it all figured out. God doesn't demand you know your whole future right now. He just asks you to trust Him with today.
LIE: "I'm too young to make a difference"
TRUTH: 1 Timothy 4:12 - "Don't let anyone look down on you because you are young." God used David as a teenager to kill a giant. Mary was a teenager when she said yes to carrying Jesus. Age doesn't limit God's plans.
LIE: "I need to be extraordinary to matter"
TRUTH: God doesn't call you to be extraordinary. He calls you to be faithful. Most of the kingdom work happens in "ordinary" moments - being kind to the kid everyone ignores, choosing integrity when no one's watching, serving without recognition.
Read verses about your identity in Christ. Write them down. Speak them out loud when you're doubting.
If someone's feed makes you feel less than, unfollow. Comparison is the thief of joy and killer of purpose.
You can't discover your gifts if you never try anything. Volunteer, join a team, take a class, serve at church.
You become like the 5 people you spend the most time with. Choose friends who call you higher, not lower.
Write down what you're learning, what doors God opens/closes, what brings you life. Patterns will emerge.
Don't just pray "show me my purpose." Ask "What's the next step?" "Where do you want me to serve?" "What gifts do I have?"
