Story 2 · Ages 6–12
The Fall - Sin Enters the World
Adam and Eve disobey God in the Garden of Eden, and sin enters God's perfect creation.
After God created the beautiful world, He made a special garden called Eden. It was the most wonderful place ever! There were fruit trees everywhere, beautiful flowers, and friendly animals. God put Adam and Eve in the garden to take care of it.
The story
God told Adam and Eve, "You can eat fruit from any tree in the garden except one - the tree in the middle of the garden. If you eat from that tree, you will die."
Adam and Eve were happy in the garden. They talked with God and took care of all the animals. Everything was perfect!
But one day, a sneaky snake came to Eve. The snake was really Satan in disguise. He said to Eve, "Did God really say you can't eat from that tree? If you eat it, you won't die - you'll become as wise as God!"
Eve looked at the fruit. It looked delicious! She forgot what God had said. She took the fruit and ate it. Then she gave some to Adam, and he ate it too.
Immediately, Adam and Eve felt different. They felt ashamed and scared. They tried to hide from God!
But God knew what they had done. He called out, "Adam, where are you?"
Adam said, "I was afraid, so I hid."
God asked, "Did you eat the fruit I told you not to eat?"
Adam and Eve admitted what they had done. Because they disobeyed God, sin entered the perfect world. God had to send them out of the beautiful garden.
But even though Adam and Eve made a bad choice, God still loved them. And God promised that one day, He would send someone to fix the problem of sin. That someone was Jesus!
Remember this
“For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;”
